A.G. Canning

Writer. Poet. Educator

A. G. Canning is an Australian author, poet and secondary English educator who writes from the heart of rural New South Wales. Her love of storytelling began at the age of fourteen and has grown into a diverse body of work spanning junior fiction, children’s literature, poetry and reflective narratives.

With a Bachelor of Arts followed by Master’s degrees in English and English Literature from the University of New England, Andrea brings together her passion for literature, education and creative writing. Her stories are shaped by a deep appreciation for nature, the Australian landscape, animals, imagination and the experiences that connect us as human beings.

As an educator, Andrea is particularly interested in the ways stories can help young people develop empathy, resilience, symbolic thinking and a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. Her writing often combines adventure and imagination with meaningful ideas, creating stories that entertain while inviting readers to look a little more closely.

From magical junior novels and didactic children's stories to lyrical poetry inspired by place and experience, A. G. Canning writes with the belief that stories can educate, inspire and transform.

Stories that inspire. Words that connect.
